John Dempsey Hospital

A 224-bed hospital at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, provides highly specialized inpatient, outpatient and primary care services. The Health Center contains most of the departmental research laboratories as well as the medical, dental and graduate schools. The hospital also utilizes an advanced web-based medical records system. Online viewing is available for all radiology studies, nuclear images, angiograms, and echocardiograms. Electronic order entry is also available at computer stations throughout the hospital.

With two campus locations in Hartford and over 600 acute care beds, the institution anchors a regional healthcare system which includes the Hoffman Heart Institute of Connecticut, the Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Connecticut. An advanced Computerized Physician Order Entry system brings added safety to patient care at Saint Francis. The St. Francis heart failure program performs pre- and post-transplant evaluations and management of ventricular assist devices.
