Brief Biosketch:
My major clinical interests are in endocrine neoplasia and diabetes mellitus. I am director of the Endocrine Neoplasia program that integrates the skills of Endocrinology, Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery, Invasive Radiology, and Neuroophthalmology in the care of patients with benign and malignant neoplasms of the thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid, and adrenal neoplasms. I am directly involved in the following procedures: thyroid nodule aspiration, thyroid ultrasound, adrenal vein sampling (aldosteronism), and petrosal sinus sampling (Cushing's syndrome). In diabetes I am director of the Diabetes Education Program at UCHC. In addition to running clinical program that provides very high quality care, our goals are to educate the primary care physician to provide care for diabetic patients and to participate in clinical trials.
Research interests are primarily understanding the molecular basis of endocrine disorders. Expertise includes adrenal disorders, glucocorticoid resistance, and familial papillary thyroid carcinoma.
