program description

genetics fellow and patient genetics fellowship and combined
pediatrics and genetics programs

The Division of Human Genetics offers a two-year accredited fellowship in Medical Genetics. Applicants should have completed a GME approved primary care residency (Pediatrics, Medicine or OB-GYN). The Medical Genetics Fellowship is focused on preparing candidates for an academic career emphasizing clinical genetics, teaching and clinical research. The program accepts one new resident every other year. For further information, check FREIDA online via the American Medical Association (AMA) website at http://www.amaassn.org. To apply or obtain more information, contact Robert M. Greenstein, M.D., Director, Division of Human Genetics, at 860-523-6464 or by e-mail at Greenstein@nso1.uchc.edu .

The Division of Human Genetics and the Pediatric Residency Program also offer a five-year combined program leading to eligibility for certification in both Genetics and Pediatrics. This program has been approved by both The American Board of Pediatrics and The Board of Human Genetics. Applicants match to this program by matching with the categorical pediatric program as the first year is identical to the PL-1 year. Applicants are urged to make their interest in this option known at the time of applying through ERAS.

Further information on the combined program can be obtained through the Office of Medical Education at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 860-545-9970 or by email to the Pediatric Residency Program Coordinator, Aida Velez, avelez@ccmckids.org.
