The department of pediatric urology is located at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC).  Our department provides specialized care of genitourinary issues for children of all ages.  We have a team approach that includes our nurses, nurse practitioners, and fellowship trained physicians.

We manage the full spectrum of genitourinary disorders with specialized programs for minimally invasive and robotics surgery, complex reconstructive surgery, stone prevention and treatment, hyperbaric wound healing, and voiding dysfunction.

Our department’s research is dedicated in both basic science and clinical outcomes.  With the support of an NIH grant, Dr. Fernando Ferrer directs a full-time staff at the University of Connecticut to study molecular patterns of cancer cell growth.  Our clinical projects focus on outcomes of surgical and non-surgical management of common genitourinary disorders.

Pediatric residents are invited to join the urology team during their elective rotations.  This rotation incorporates the outpatient and the surgical elements, based on the resident’s preference.  Our department works with the inpatient pediatric team to follow patients together.
