program coordinator's welcome

Greetings from the University of Connecticut Pediatric Residency Program!

My name is Aída Vélez. I have been the program coordinator for eight years, including a resident of the Greater Hartford area for many years now.  As program coordinator, my job is to manage and oversee the administration of the Pediatric Residency Program.  My objective is to provide quality leadership and day-to-day management of the educational activities for the Pediatric Residency Program in an effort to contribute to the success of the residency program.

I currently participate on regional and national pediatric residency program coordinators' committees.  We meet semi-annually to discuss ways to promote and enhance graduate medical education in the specialty of pediatrics. Additionally, our goal is to promote communication among program coordinators, chief pediatric residents, and program directors. Most importantly, we serve as an educational resource to foster the exchange of ideas and information to contribute to the administration success of our pediatric residency programs.  We are very proud of our committees and are extremely committed to creating and providing a residency environment where pediatric residents are proud to work in, as well as, contribute to the success of their educational experiences.

For those of you who may not know, The University of Connecticut's Pediatric Residency Program is proud to call The Connecticut Children's Medical Center, which is located in Hartford, Connecticut, home. The University of Connecticut's Pediatric Residency Program prides itself on providing its students with an exceptional educational experience. Our standards are exemplified in both our affiliation with one of the most advanced and prestigious children's hospitals in the country, as well as our program's dedication to the education and growth of our residents, who have enjoyed high levels of success.  We are pleased to provide a quality program and look forward to you visiting our program.

After you review our website, I hope that you leave with a new found knowledge of the living, working, learning, and social activities that our pediatric residency program and the city of Hartford have to offer.
